Philosophical Principles of Chiorpractic
Again we will discuss another of the 33 principles of chiropractic developed by BJ Palmer, the son of the founder of chiropractic and the person who had a major impact on the science and art of chiropractic and the promotion of chiropractic. These principles are often considered the philosophical basis of chiropractic.
Principle 3: Life is necessarily the union of intelligence and matter.
Palmer is attempting to make a point that in order to have life you you must combine intelligence and matter. In other words, matter can't become life, i.e. can't be expressed as life, unless the matter has (innate) intelligence. Palmer is also saying that without matter intelligence cannot be expressed.
I think in broader terms Palmer is also trying to say here, and maybe just as importantly, that we must understand the human body in terms of having an internal intelligence that is used to maintain health (life) and to heal (life) itself when sick and that healing can and should take place with only the use of this internal intelligence (without the use of outside interference such as drugs or surgery).
In my next blog post I will discuss another of Palmer's 33 principles. If you have any questions about this blog post or about chiropractic, low, mid or upper back pain, headaches or other nerve related issues please feel free to contact me at my Ann Arbor office at [email protected].
