Improve Your Posture

From The Desk of Dr. Mike Tannenbaum, D.C.

Posture is extremely important in the maintenance of one's health. Studies have shown that the worse ones posture is the more likely they will have back pain, difficulty breathing and even increased mortality. For the elderly, bad posture causes them to fall more easily. For athletes and actually, for all people,. poor posture decreases ones balance. Poor posture also puts stress on the skeletal system causing faster then normal and greater then normal degeneration of joints and bones.

There are ways to improve one's posture. First of all, chiropractic adjustments can help align the bones of the body and this alone will help improve posture. There is, of course, many things one can do on their own to improve posture. Most of these are exercises and stretches that pertain to the core of your body. With out the core being strong and limber it's not possible to have good posture. There are so many posture exercises and stretches one can choose from that I won't list them here, but if you were to Google “posture improvement exercises” you will see lots that you can do to improve your posture. If you choose to use exercises that you find on “Google” make sure the exercises come from a authoritative and reputable sources such as American Chiropractic Association and WebM.D.
