Food Diet

People often ask me what would be a good food diet to follow. I often point them in the direction of a Mediterranean styled diet, but really it can be any diet using the information below to guide you.

-The majority of the diet should be plant based. You want to make sure your consuming most of your diet in vegetables, fruit, legumes and nuts. Making sure not to consume too much of high fat content nuts. Ideally, as much of the diet should be organically grown as possible, with minimal food coming from cans.

-You want to avoid processed foods. Another words you want to eat whole foods. Foods like organic orange slices, fresh carrots, brown rice, fresh Alaskan salmon, foods with out additives or preservatives.

-You want to consume foods that are high in micronutrients and phytonutirents. This comes with, for example, eating fruits and vegetables that have a lot of color in them, whole grains and beans.

-Make sure you are eating healthy fats. Usually, the best fats to consume are those that come from plant based foods like avocado, coconut, seeds and nuts.

-Obviously, everyone’s dietary needs are different and if you have an allergy or a sensitivity to a certain food you should not consume that food. In the case of health issues, some people are advised to consume a diet different from what I have suggested above. If that is your case, check with your health care provider before switching to the diet I have suggested.
