B.J. Palmer's Principle 28

From the desk of Ann Arbor Chiropractor Michael Tannenbaum, D.C.

In today's blog post I will discuss another one of B.J. Palmer's 33 Principles. This principle talks about the idea that innate intelligence is carried throughout the body via the nerve system. (If you don't know what innate intelligence is, look at my previous blog post dealing with Palmer's Principle 20.)

Principle 28

The forces of Innate Intelligence operate through or over the nervous system in animal bodies.

This principle is of utmost importance in chiropractic. Basically, the principle says that the brain has the innate intelligence that controls the function of the body and this innate intelligence is transported throughout the entire body via the nerve system. More precisely, beginning in the brain innate intelligence is first transported through the spinal cord (part of the nerve system), then travels through appendages that come off the spinal chord called nerve roots which then branch into millions and millions of nerves that innervate all tissues, organs and systems of the body so that the body can function as close to 100% as possible. In addition, innate intelligence in the tissues, systems and organs of the body send signals back to the brain. All this is done so the brain can control the function of the body. Finally, if there is interference to particular nerves of the nerve system then the innate intelligence transmitted through those nerves will change thus causing the body to function at less then 100% health. Chiropractors attempts to make sure the nerve system functions without interference so to minimize interference to the innate intelligence and in turn allow the body to function as close to 100% as possible.
