What Causes Spinal Bone Misalignment?

From the desk of Ann Arbor Chiropractor Michael Tannenbaum, D.C.

I often get the question “what caused the bones in my spine or pelvis to go out of alignment?”. I tell my patients unless I'm watching you 100% of the time, I can't tell. I've heard the analogy “which pothole threw my car out of alignment”. Just like potholes and your car it's really hard to tell which activity caused the your bones to misalign. We often don't know if it's the way you lifted something, a long drive you took in the car or stress caused the misalignment. In addition, since the misalignment can be caused by a random occurrence, it's best to not worry too much about how your bones misalign. We're constantly doing spinal misalignment inducing activities and much of which we don't know is contributing to the misalignment. Instead of worrying about it so much, one should be proactive and on a regular basis go to a chiropractor to get their spinal bones checked for misalignment and realigned accordingly.
