Palmer's Principle 31

From the desk of Ann Arbor Chiropractor Michael Tannenbaum, D.C.

Here is another analysis of one of B.J. Palmer's principles of chiropractic. B.J. is the son of the founder of Chiropractic, D.D. Palmer. B.J. also had a huge influence in bringing Chiropractic to the world.

Principle 31

Interference with transmission in the body is always directly or indirectly due to subluxations in the spinal column.

This principle is expressing one of the basic premises of chiropractic. That is, if bones (vertebrae) are misaligned in the spinal column (subluxation) likely there will be interference to the nerves going between those misaligned spinal bones and in turn interference to the transmission of the nerve impulses that travel through those nerves. In addition, this principle is expressing that the higher the number of misaligned spinal bones the higher the amount of nerve interference. This can be taken further and as we talked about in other blog posts, the body functions relative to particular nerve impulses and if the nerve impulses change due to nerve interference then the body will have ill health. Some very basic examples of resulting nerve impulse interference are back pain, neck pain, headaches, tingling and numbness in hands and feet.
