Chiropractic Adjusting Techniques

Callers to my Ann Arbor Chiropractic office sometimes ask the question, "What chiropractic adjusting technique(s) are used at Tannenbaum Chiropractic?” I get this inquiry for a couple of reasons. People are looking for a chiropractor that uses a particular technique or people want to know what techniques I use and an explanation of what these techniques entail. Usually, I tell people that there are a large number of chiropractic techniques (some say up to 140), but many of these techniques are variation on some basic techniques. The basic techniques are "light touch/instrument" and what are often called "manual".

The light touch/instrument techniques used by chiropractors often us a spring loaded instrument that delivers a high velocity tapping adjustment. Some names of these techniques are called Activator and Torque Release. The manual techniques use more of a pushing and turning of the hands on particular joints of the body. These techniques are often accompanied by popping sounds at the joints being adjusted. Some names of the manual techniques are Diversified and Gonstead. Both techniques, light touch/instrument and manual, can be very effective. At my chiropractic office in Ann Arbor, I use both techniques, but a vast majority of my patients ask that I use a manual technique.
