Clarifyng Chiropractic
~~Another blog post from Tannenbaum Chiropractic, LLC chiropractor Mike Tannenbaum.
At my chiropractic office in Ann Arbor we see a lot of people in that have a number of misconceptions about chiropractic. Here are some of the things I tell people so that they have a better more accurate understanding of chiropractic.
Chiropractic is effective for and can be safely used by all age groups. As a chiropractor I was trained to treat people from newborns to the elderly and at my at this chiropractic office we treat people of all ages.
Chiropractic doesn't do the healing the body does. Chiropractors work to remove nerve interference so that the body is working as it should thus allow the body to heal itself. Without proper nerve function the body cannot properly heal itself.
Some people think that once you start going to a chiropractor you have to go forever. You may want to regularly go to a chiropractor for the rest of your life because you know how well you'll feel after you’re treated, but chiropractic is a tool that can be used just for a specific treatment regimen to fix a specific problem that you may not need to be treated for again.
Chiropractors work under the premise that you can be ill even if you don't feel any discomfort. One way to look at this is that pain does not always coincide with the root of the problem. A case in point is your heart may not be working properly/not be healthy and you don't notice because you feel no pain.
Chiropractors school education is just as rigorous as the education as that of medical schools (see below). With this in mind, chiropractors have studied and understand much more about health and the body structure then just the spine.
