Joint Pain and Chiropractic

Another blog post from Ann Arbor Chiropractor Michael Tannenbaum, D.C.

Chiropractors regularly treat people for joint pain. Depending on how you define the joints of the body, they consist of ball and socket joints, gliding joints, hinge joints and saddle joints. These joints are built to allow smooth, fluid and pain free movement in a variety of directions. A problem faced by many people is that inflammation builds up within the tissues in the joints which causes pain, decreased range of motion and joint degeneration. The long term effects of joint inflammation can result in complete dysfunction of the joint.  At Tannenbaum Chiropractic in Ann Arbor we regularly treat people with joint inflammation. Chiropractic treatments remove nerve interference and adjust the bones of the joints into their proper position. This helps reduce inflammation in the joints allowing the joints to work properly while decreasing the chances of joint degeneration. Chiropractors generally use a very specific high velocity low force thrust in a specific direction to put the joints into proper alignment.

Strengthening joints through exercise and stretching is another great way to help reduce the pressure on the joints that can cause joint inflammation. In addition, a diet low in inflammatory foods, foods such as those found in most processed type snacks, along with a diet high in foods that reduce inflammation can help prevent joint inflammation as well as improve overall body health.

To begin the process of reducing joint inflammation you should book an appointment with your local chiropractor. Your chiropractor should be able to adjust your joints, help you with stretching and strengthening exercises and help you start a low inflammatory diet, all to help you reduce or prevent  joint pain and/or joint inflammation.  Every day at our Ann Arbor chiropractic office we help people reduce joint pain and inflammation. We like to think we are improving the world one joint at a time.
