Top 10 Most Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the science, art, and philosophy of locating, correcting, and preventing vertebral subluxations through specific gentle chiropractic adjustments, thus allowing the body to function at its optimum potential.

2. What is an adjustment?
A specific "thrust" delivered by hand which is called a "Manual Adjustment" or a non-invasive "thrust" by a hand held instrument called the Integrator. The purpose of the adjustment is to remove nerve interference to your body.

3. Will my adjustment hurt?
You won't feel much. Dr. Mike uses manual adjusting techniques (mentioned earlier), which are safe, gentle, and many people say feel good. Dr. Mike also uses the integrator instrument that delivers a thrust at one-ten thousandth of a second so all you fell is a little "thump".

4. Can you help my sick child?
Very likely. We use examination & adjusting techniques/protocols appropriate for children.
We have a lot of success helping children.

5. How many times do I have to come in?
Each practice member is unique on every level; therefore, it is virtually impossible for us to know exactly how many adjustments you need to meet each of your health goals. However, we will recommend a certain number of adjustments that our experience and science tell us are appropriate for your situation.

6. Will I feel better after I am adjusted?
We are not focused on treating disease, but rather on enhancing the healing potential of all practice members. Scientific studies have documented that those receiving chiropractic care experience a 200% increase in immuno competence (stronger immune system) as well as a host of other benefits including: increased energy and stamina, increased metabolism, increased mental ability to deal with stress, and much more. Although the chiropractic adjustment does often result in rapid improvement in acute symptoms, the real goal of chiropractic is to increase health and wellness and maintain them at a higher level. We are dedicated to your greatest goals in this area of health and wellness.

7. Will chiropractic care be expensive?
Considering the benefits and the experience at Tannenbaum Chiropractic, and the cost of providing you with the best health care, our fees are very reasonable and offer you priceless value. We also offer individual and group wellness plans that make care very affordable for individuals and/or the whole family. Ask us for details.

8. What services do we offer?
We offer state of the art chiropractic care including adjustments manually-delivered (by hand) and those using the integrator instrument, therapeutic massage/traction table, library of relevant health and wellness articles, occasional lectures, and an environment that encourages and supports you on your journey towards health and wellness.

9. How long will it take to get adjusted?
Even the busiest practice members commit to making chiropractic care a priority in their lives. Your adjustment will take 5-8 minutes. However, if you want to schedule extra time, one-on-one with
Dr. Mike to talk about a particular issue, just ask and we will schedule you appropriately.

10. What if I feel fine?
Do I need to keep coming back?

That is always up to you. However, it has been our experience with many practice members that stopped care when they are "feeling fine," that is, not having ongoing care (regular follow-up care), the problem that they originally came in for returns. On the other hand, those who commit to regular care find their problem rarely returns, as well they enjoy a higher quality of life and health.

To insure that your visit to our office is a pleasant one, here are the procedures you can expect during your first and second visits. (The first visit should take approximately an hour and 15 minutes, the second visit approximately 40 minutes and the following visits approximately 8-10 minutes.) We fully embrace that you do not live to get adjusted, but get adjusted to live!

First Visit

Paperwork:
Complete the health history form (and some administrative paperwork) to help us better get to know you. Also, this information will help Dr. Mike formulate his recommendations for your personal care plan. Read and sign the Terms of Acceptance in appropriate places.

Consultation:
You will meet with Dr. Mike to review your health history. Dr. Mike will determine if yours is a chiropractic case and explain how you may benefit from chiropractic.

Examination:
This is a chiropractic examination. We will not probe, prod or prick you. However we will palpate your spine, ask you to go through various ranges of motion, and check your skeletal structure and nerve related functions.

X-rays:
Necessary views of your spine may be taken to visualize the location of spinal problems, reveal any pathology (disease process), and make your chiropractic care more precise. By using x-rays, we have a tool to visualize the problem: we don't want to guess about your health. (We do not routinely x-ray children.)

Second Visit

Report Of Findings:
On your second visit to our office you will first see a short video (approximately 10 minutes) that will allow you to better understand your report of findings. Dr. Mike will then review with you your report of findings, and your x-rays, and then outline a care plan that is designed specifically for YOU! We ask that you bring your spouse or loved ones along so that they can hear your findings.

Adjustment:
You will be checked for vertebral subluxation and if subluxations are present, will be given a specific chiropractic adjustment by Dr. Mike. We will explain and demonstrate everything we do. It is our goal to become active partners with you in your health and wellness.

We know there are many places you can go for your health and wellness care and we thank you for choosing Tannenbaum Chiropractic.
