Chiropractic and Athletes

From The Desk of  Ann Arbor Chiropractor Mike Tannenbaum, D.C.

As a chiropractor in Ann Arbor I regularly see athletes and this is because sports/athletes and chiropractic go together exceptionally well. Many professional sports and college teams have staff chiropractor(s), or a close affiliation with a chiropractor(s). It's interesting for me to watch the sidelines of national football league games and see a player getting treatment (adjusted) by a chiropractor. Athletes receive chiropractic care for the same reasons anyone else does, for ailments such as low back pain, neck pain, mid back pain, headaches, and for wrist, arm, ankle, foot or leg pain. In addition, however, many athletes know that chiropractic gives them an advantage that has nothing to do with pain reduction. These athletes know that chiropractic helps maintain or improve musculoskeletal alignment in such a way that helps prevent injury and also helps the body perform in a more efficient and effective manner, such as increasing the speed of one’s reflexes and improving an individual’s balance. So, if you’re an athlete and serious about improving your athletic performance, you should have regular chiropractic care.
