Facts About Chiropractic:

There are about 85,000 chiropractors worldwide and approximately 65,000 are in the United States.

Chiropractic was founded in 1895 in Davenport, Iowa.

Chiropractors can legally be known as Doctor of Chiropractic, Chiropractic Physician or Chiropractor.

Chiropractors are known to provide exceptionally effective care of disorders related to the spine. Some of these disorders include headaches, neck pain, and upper, middle and low back pain.

In order to receive a Doctor of Chiropractic degree Chiropractors are required to take and complete a very similar course load to that which a Medical Doctors must complete to receive their degree. (I spoke about this in an earlier blog.)

The basic idea of chiropractic is that nerve interference in the body causes ill health and chiropractors attempt to restore nerve function thus giving the body the potential to function as close to 100% as possible.

Chiropractic acceptance in society since its founding has increased dramatically. Currently, you'll find Chiropractors practicing in hospitals, working for many professional sports teams, famous artists regularly use chiropractors when they tour and of course, an ever increasing number of people will use chiropractors for help with muskuloskeletal and nerve related problems and/or to simply maintain to their health.

Members of the armed forces can receive Chiropractic care in at least 40 military bases in the U.S., and at about 30 veteran’s administration medical facilities. Chiropractic care is a benefit offered by Medicare and Medicaid. Chiropractic treatment is a benefit offered by most traditional insurance policies.
