How To Avoid Back Pain

If you have back pain, you're not alone. The majority of adults in the U.S. have back pain at least once a year. The majority of people that come to my Ann Arbor chiropractic office come in because they have back pain. Most chiropractors make a living helping people get rid of and avoiding back pain. Chiropractor are often the first stop when people have back pain as people know chiropractors will likely help them get rid of the pain.

So, here are some of the suggestions I give to my patients at my Ann Arbor chiropractic office to prevent back pain.

-Use proper lifting technique.

-Have a regular stretching routine that promotes that decreases the likely of getting back pain.

-Maintain a healthy weight.

-Have good posture.

-Make sure the ergonomic set-up at your work place, your car and home that helps prevent back pain.

-Don't smoke. Science has shown that those who smoke are more likely to get back pain. This has to do with the fact that smoking causes less nutrients to reach the spinal discs.

-Make sure you sleep in away that minimizes stress on the back. For example, if you sleep on your side you should have your knees slightly bent toward your chest and if you sleep on your back you should place a thin pillow underneath your knees.

-Avoid high heals. Heals, especially over an inch, put a lot of strain on the low back.

-Avoid having a wallet in your back pocket when sitting as the wallet will act as a wedge throwing out your low back and pelvic alignment.

-Maintain a low inflammatory diet. Don't consume things that are likely to cause joint and tissue inflammation. It is well known that those who consume a diet high in inflammatory foods are more likely to experience back pain.

-Regularly get chiropractic adjustments to maintain proper pelvis and spinal alignment.

If you abide by these suggestions you will less likely experience back pain. Furthermore, by following these suggestions you will likely improve your overall health.
