Health and Wellness a Chiropractors Perspective

Another blog post from Ann Arbor Chiropractor, Mike Tannenbaum, D.C.: Health and Wellness a Chiropractors Perspective

As a chiropractor one of my goals is to get people out of pain and back to health. Another goal and maybe the most important one, is helping people avoid pain and ill health and thus help people maintain their wellness. So, here are some suggestions I give my chiropractic patients in Ann Arbor to help them maintain their health and avoid pain.

Make sure that the meals you eat are healthful. Avoid too much fat and carbohydrates (including sugar). Make sure to have plenty of vegetables in your diet. Avoid overeating.

Make sure you avoid being sedentary. Studies show that in a 8 hour work day you should sit for a maximum of four hours. Get up and move around when at work and home. Find ways to exercise at least five days a week.

Have a regular full body stretching routine that you practice five days a week.

Make sure to manage your stress. Have ways of monitoring your stress level and when stressed have tools to lower the stress.

Make sure that the activities you participate in are good for you. For example, don't participate in too many barbecues and do join a bike club.

Consider health care that is outside the medical model. For example try chiropractic and acupuncture.

Maintain good posture. Bad posture is a slippery slope. That is, bad posture will only get worse with time.
